Gameplay
DLC expansion for Splatoon 3 (2022) can be found in Splatoon 3: Side Order. Side Order is a third-person shooter game, just like the base game, but it also incorporates roguelike elements into this genre. Agent 8, the Octoling you play as, ascends the Spire of Order, which is 30 stories long in each run after the tutorial’s 10 floors high.
The player character must ascend the spire one floor at a time while accomplishing tasks that are specific to that floor, such as escorting a tower or defeating certain enemies. When a new floor is initiated, a color chip is given out (boss fights happen every ten floors).
The player can select which color chips to use, and they will reinforce certain aspects of the game, like the player’s movement, their weapon, and the Pearl Drone that will help the character ascend further. A persistent currency called “Prlz” is created if the player runs out of lives during a climb. This persistent currency can be used to buy permanent upgrades for subsequent climbs. The images mostly feature Eight in bizarre, bright white settings, along with Off the Hook, while the clips appear to show biological elements like cells or organs. There are bleached coral branches all over the plaza. The Spire of Order has taken the place of Deca Tower, and it is now adorned with several billboards.
